Memory Center Brings Specialized Health Care to Region

Caldwell Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of The Falls Neurology & Memory Center to The Caldwell Physician Network. The new practice will open adjacent to The Falls Medical Park on Highway 321 in Granite Falls when renovations are completed. Until that time, the neurologist and memory specialist at The Falls Neurology & Memory Center, Donald E. Schmechel, MD, will see patients at The Falls Medical Park.

According to the June 28, 2006 edition of National Vital Statistics Report from The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services National Center for Health Statistics and The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Vital Statistics System, Alzheimer’s disease, a condition treated at The Falls Neurology & Memory Center, rated seventh out of the 15 leading causes of death in America. The data is based on mortality information collected through 2004.
