Lab Comes to CMH

For quite some time, patients of Caldwell Memorial Hospital who require cardiac catheterization have been able to receive the service because of a unique mobile catheterization unit in partnership with MedCath. In early November, these patients will enjoy a new benefit: a fixed cardiac catheterization lab at CMH.

Cardiac catheterization is a test that measures blood pressure inside the heart and blood oxygen levels. It also can be used to test for blockages of the coronary arteries.

The test is used to evaluate patients for cardiovascular disease, heart function, blood supply, and congenital—from birth—heart defects.

“We are very pleased to be able to provide this critical test for area patients,” says Laura Easton, Chief Operating Officer at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. “The MedCath mobile unit partnership has allowed us to offer cardiac catheterization several days each week. But with the fixed lab partnership, we will offer cardiac catheterization every day.

It is a key element in meeting the health care needs of Caldwell County citizens.”

The new fixed cardiac catheterization lab will be housed on the fourth floor at Caldwell Memorial. The new lab also is a joint venture with MedCath.
