Help for Hemochromatosis

Hemochromatosis is an inherited disorder in which the body stores too much iron. If you suffer from this condition, dietary measures could help you keep it in check. If you take multivitamins, for example, choose ones with no iron. Also, eat only limited amounts of iron-fortified foods. Steer clear of raw seafood, alcohol, and other foods and beverages that stress the liver. Also, it’s a good idea to avoid cast-iron cookware. But do drink tea with your meals. The tannin in tea may help block iron absorption.
